Being a newcomer to Edinburgh, it's sometimes hard to know where to go. Luckily today saw the arrival of our Brighton chum Ollie who was formally the village bicycle in Edinburgh.

We set our new guide a mission: we wanted to go party, get drunk and go gay! Sure enough he knew exactly where to go.

First up we stopped in at Planet Out, a rather lovely retro bar that attracts a very trendy crowd. With drinks deals, live DJ and friendly bar staff we could have stayed all night. However Ollie had the promise of a venue not to be missed...

CC Blooms is a free gay bar and nightclub with mirrored walls and neon lights just like the set of Top Of The Pops circa 1972. The crowd was a real mixture of folks - all in a party mood. There were trannies, twinks, bears, daddies, and some guy completely in love with his reflection in the mirror, much to our amusement!

The music was a mash-up of pop, chart, soundtrack, indie and trash. The crawl ended here - we completely forgot to move on to another venue - the drinks were cheap the party was good... and it was open until 3am.
