All set for Pride Games 2009
Competitors gather in Manchester for the 2009 Pride Games

All set for Pride Games 2009

Tuesday, 26 May 2009

Pride Games celebrates its fifth birthday this year, and having been voted 'Best Gay Sports Event' for two years running it's destined to be another great week of athleticism and socialising.

Events span just over a week from the 31st of May to the 7th of June, and include a range of taster events for people wanting to get a feel for a new sport, tournaments for anyone with a competitive streak, to cultural and social events.

The idea, then, is to appeal to a broad range of people... to get people to participate whatever their skill level and to gather people together in a healthy, fun environment for the week!

Registration is very much still open, and you can register online at www.pridegames.org, where you'll also find a full run-down of events.

Events kick off on Sunday 31st with relay races and a 5k fun run down at Alexandra Park, and an opening soirée at the Lava Bar in the evening... There are tasters for climbing, football, netball, rugby, swimming, archery, volleyball, badminton, basketball, sailing and water polo in the following few days, with official registration for the competitive events on the Friday evening.

After a weekend of competitions and sports, things wrap up with the 10k run and bellboat regatta down at Salford Quays on Sunday 7th of June.

If you're in the area, then join in! And if you're not in the area, then get down there!
